Overthinking is one of the worst things you can do to yourself. I am definitely guilty of overthinking, and many times it causes stress that is completely unnecessary. Here are some ways I calm my mind:
Talk It Out
One way to help overthinking is taking it out, even if it’s talking out loud to yourself. Sometimes, I come up with ridiculous scenarios in my head (let’s face it, we all do it) due to overthinking a rather simple situation. When this happens, I talk about it. I start by talking about the actual situation at hand and then what I am thinking about. Sometimes, when I say my thoughts out loud I realize what I’m thinking is pretty silly, and that helps me calm my mind.
Tea And Blankets
Sometimes, just getting cozy with some tea is a great way to figure out your thoughts. When I’m feeling overwhelmed with my thoughts, making Door County Cherry Tea or Peppermint loose leaf tea while cuddling up in a blanket brings my thoughts back to reality. It is the best tea I have ever had in my life, and always relaxes me.

Meditation
I don’t know about you, but it can be hard to meditate. When I first tried it, I literally couldn’t stop the thousands of thoughts flowing through my mind. Once I became more aware of my breathing and controlling my thoughts, I began to feel more relaxed. Meditating always helps me think of situations as they are, not overthink what they’re not.
What helps you calm your mind? I’d love to hear from you!

It’s true. Our thoughts can overpower us, but it’s the little things that we find comfort in which make a difference.
