Stop And Look Around

Whenever I go for a run or walk, it always clears my head. It takes me away from my busy routine and lets me relax, something that is hard to do when you are caught up in a busy schedule. Running also let’s me notice things that I may not have noticed before.

I haven’t ran for the last week and a half because (surprise, surprise) I have been so busy with work, moving and getting ready for graduate school. My half marathon is a month away, and I told myself I have to get back to training, no excuses.

As I was running today, I came across a sign that was on the ground going up a big hill. I stopped and looked at it and smiled to myself. The sign said “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can” and it was just the motivation I needed for my run. Not only did it motivate me, I wondered how I hadn’t noticed this sign before. I have driven up that hill a billion times and never saw it.

This made me realize something very important. It made me realize that you need to stop and look around you. We are all SO caught up in our daily routines, we don’t notice the simple beauties around us. Whether it’s a patch of wildflowers or a sign, beauty is around us.

Thanks to The Little ChooChoo and running, it reminded me to stop and look around. No matter how busy you are and how repetitive your schedule is, take time to look around you. I bet you will find simply joys you never noticed before.
