It has been rather rainy in Milwaukee lately. Sunny, but also rainy. The rain has been great though, because it helps me study. Something about watching the rain from my window as I’m reading or working on my homework makes it a little easier to focus.
Today, my good friend Hannah and I had planned to go on a run together. This was the perfect break from studying. Let me tell you, my time has been consumed with reading. I love reading and school, but you need breaks in between. This morning, instead of the sunny and blue skies I was intending to wake up to, it was cloudy and rainy. After Nic and I had breakfast, I realized the weather wasn’t clearing up anytime soon.
After Hannah came over and we enjoyed our morning cup of joe with some cozy blankets, we began our run on the lake. As we ran, we took in the beautiful sights of Milwaukee. The water, the architecture, the lighthouses and even a fox we saw hiding in the plants were all breathtaking. As we were running, there was a light drizzle but it didn’t bother us one bit. It just made our run that much more memorable.
As simple as this sounds, the rain was so refreshing. You aways hear quotes and songs about dancing in the rain, and I have to say rain really does have this special touch to it.
Running in the rain was a way to let the stress out, talk about life and enjoy the views around us. It was a good reminder to make the most out of every day. Everyday won’t be sunny, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make the most of it. We were planning on enjoying the morning, and we did just that. This was the first time I ran in the rain and it surely won’t be the last. It reminded me never to let the rain ruin a day. Instead of looking at it negatively, look at is as a little change of plans. Although it’s cloudy, it can still be a bright day if you let it. 🙂
