Something I’ve realized is that often, we wait for something to pass. We may wait for Friday, wait for the week to be done or wait for the weekend. Sometimes, it’s good to wait for things. I love waiting for holidays, birthdays, travel adventures and so on. However, I’m not talking about that kind of waiting.

What happens when we wait for Friday? We may forget to enjoy Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. What happens when we wait for a week to be over with? We may forget to enjoy the good things that have happened that week. Life is so short, and waiting for things to happen while not enjoying what IS currently happening is a habit we need to break.

On Sundays, I used to dread the next day. I didn’t like Mondays and I would often tell myself it was going to be a long day. Then, one day, it hit me. Mondays aren’t that bad but I’m already setting a negative tone to the day because of the perception of the day itself being bad. Once I stopped waiting for this day to be over, I began to realize Mondays are as great as any other day. By changing my mindset, I changed my whole day.

Don’t get me wrong, some days are just hard and difficult. It happens to all of us. However, if you can change your mindset, DO IT. We can’t always live in the future because we will forget about the present. Every single day is a gift and instead of waiting for a day to be over, we should be excited for the day to start. We need to remember to enjoy that sunshine, smile and tackle life head on (even if it IS a Monday). 🙂
