Valentine’s Day is only a few days away! Personally, I’ve always been a fan of Valentine’s Day. Many people may have a budget, and going out sometimes isn’t so easy – I totally get that. But who says you have to go out and spend money to celebrate? You don’t! You can have a cute and romantic date night while staying in the comfort of your home. Here are a few ideas!
It’s winter (at least here), so why not have an indoor picnic? Get a blanket, set it up in your living room and put together some tasty treats. Look around to see what you have in your kitchen. Maybe your picnic will consist of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, stir fry or even a salad. It can be anything you want it to be! Set up your plates on the blanket, light a candle or two and enjoy your romantic indoor picnic.
Make Dinner & Watch a Movie
I love making dinner with Nic because we always have so much fun together. This Valentine’s Day, instead of going out to dinner, cook together! Take a look and see what you have in your fridge and cabinets and have fun with it! There are no rules and you don’t always have to follow a set recipe. After you eat dinner, pick a movie from your collection, cozy up in some blankets and enjoy! It’s a simple date, but it’s cute and memorable.
Board games! I LOVE board games! If you have some games at home, grab them and have game night. Pour yourself some wine or beer and enjoy.
Go For a Walk
If it’s not too cold out, go for a walk! This is something Nic and I love to do together. When we go for walks, it’s like taking a step away from reality. We talk about how our days were, our ideas, plans and overall thoughts. Often, we bring along our camera and take fun photos along the way that always make us smile when we look at them later. This is one of my favorite dates.
Music & Reminiscing
Our favorite band is Head and the Heart (no surprise there). Often, when we get home, we will sit and listen to them and just talk. It’s the best. If you have a certain band you love, play their music! Sometimes, we forget to do little things like listening to music and talking about life. It’s incredibly underrated. If you feel like dancing, grab your love and have a mini concert in your living room! It’s pretty much like a private concert!
Look at Photos
I love taking photos, because I love looking back and smiling at memories (like our walks). We take so many photos, and sometimes, it’s fun to sit down and go through them. Looking through old photos brings you back to fun memories, inside jokes and adventures. Sit down, look through some old (or recent) photos and take a walk down memory lane.
I hope my ideas gave you some of your own! Remember, there are no rules. If it makes you happy, that’s all that matters.
