If you’re like me, you love to travel. If you love to travel, you probably follow an Instagram Blogger that gives you serious wanderlust every time they post a new picture of an exotic destination. What is it that you love about their account? Is it the dreamy cityscapes? Is it the luxury in which they travel?
Did you know that you can travel like an Instagram blogger for less?
This may seem like an impossible feat, but you’re in luck. I’ve collaborated with another awesome blogger, Brewing Up Style, and we’re bringing you the ULTIMATE roundup for traveling in luxury for cheap.
Where Should You Go?
So, maybe traveling to five different European cities isn’t quite within your budget. Our first traveling tip is about not only where you go, but when you go. It is so important to keep in mind popular travel times – spring break, summer break, winter break, etc. If you can, try to avoid popular times like this because the prices will be significantly higher. There are many blogs that can help you in your planning adventure, such as Budget trips: 20 of the cheapest places to travel by Rough Guides. Keep in mind that popular travel times vary by region. The biggest trick for planning your travel destination here is to do your research.
If your dream travel destination is Europe, what do you love most about it? The food? The wine? Whatever it is, I’m sure you can find a city closer to home that has the same amazing perks. Search phrases like, “The Best Wine in (insert state name here)” to find what you’re looking for. You won’t be disappointed.
Packing Efficiently While Remaining Stylish
Would it be a post about Instagram Travel Bloggers if we didn’t break down the fashion aspect of travel? Plan your packing. If you don’t plan it out, you’ll regret it – trust me. When I pack for a trip, I plan the whole thing out in my head so I know I have all the outfits I want. Here are some questions I consider…
Where am I going?
How long will I be gone?
What will the temperature be like?
Am I prepared for all weather possibilities?
Are we going anywhere fancy?
Do I need heels?
Do I need hiking shoes?
Do I need a strapless bra?
Do I need a swimsuit?
These are all crucial questions to consider. On top of these questions, plan out your outfits so you can feel cute and confident. Consider packing some scarves to add a touch of color, as well as jewelry that can help make your outfits pop! Figure out how many days you’re gone, the outfits you feel good in, and lay out all of your options. After you have a visual idea of your outfits, start to plan out what you feel best in. That way, you will feel fabulous in your outfits and you won’t have to stress about wearing the right thing. When you’ve planned your outfits, don’t forget to think about shoes. I’m telling you- this will make or break your trip. Are you going to be walking a bunch? Make sure you pack shoes that are cute, but most importantly, comfortable. One thing that’s never pretty is a bunch of blisters.
Where to Stay
A huge tip for traveling for less is where you stay. If you stay at the most glamorous hotel in the area, chances are you will be paying a fair amount per night. If you haven’t heard of Airbnb, check it out. You can find some incredible deals on this site while still staying in a beautiful place. Also check out the nearby hostels of the area you’re staying in – they don’t always get the credit they deserve! While staying at a hostel might sound scary or intimidating, this is where you’ll find like-minded people that are also traveling. You never know who you’ll meet and the friendships you’ll build! Traveling is about being open-minded and doing something you’ve never done before.
What To Do For Cheap
I’m saying it again – research. Look up the place you are going and see what you want to do. If you want to go on a whale watch tour, look for coupons or discount codes before you go. If you want to go snorkeling, read about different snorkel tour options and compare prices. I am a huge Groupon fan, so one big tip is to use it to your advantage. Depending where you go, you can find deals for restaurants, activities and more! One of the most interesting things that you can do wherever you go is check out the city’s parks and gardens. The best part? Most are free (and great to snap a few instas…)! If you start planning on what you want to do before you go, you’ll be at a BIG advantage because you’ll you save a LOT of money. TRAVEL WIN!
