Hello, everyone! I hope you’re enjoying your summer and taking advantage of the summer weather. It’s almost August… and before we know it, it will be fall. I know, I know, it’s still July. But I would be lying if I told you I wasn’t excited for fall, the crisp leaves and the cool air. Don’t get me wrong – I still love summer just as much.
Any Nicholas Sparks fans out there?! Well, I am a HUGE fan of his. Recently, I finished reading The Longest Ride, and boy did I loved it. Once I finished the book, I immediately wanted to read it again and again… and again. That’s one of the signs of knowing you have just finished an incredible read. It highlights the story of two couples, one younger and one older, and their journeys as a couple and as individual people. I cried, smiled, laughed and cried again. It was wonderful and I highly recommend it.
Yesterday, I went to Barnes & Noble and got five new books – I am so excited and obviously want to share them with you. I’ve read a number of Nicholas Sparks books before (obviously). However, I have not read any books by the other authors below. I love discovering and finding new authors and reading their beautiful writing. It’s almost like a treasure hunt – looking and hunting for new books and authors and ending up finding a great treasure.
Here are the new books I got:
The Light We Lost – Jill Santopolo
Lily and the Octopus – Steven Rowley
Island in the Sea – Anita Hughes (bargain buy for $5- woo!)
The Choice – Nicholas Sparks
The Wedding – Nicholas Sparks
I am SO excited to start reading these, and am going to start with Lily and the Octopus. I have only heard rave reviews about this book, and people have been saying it’s a book that you HAVE to read and won’t be able to put down – done and done. After that, onto the next ones. So, I’m getting ready to curl up in a blanket with my cup of coffee and enjoy my new reads.
What are you all reading these days? Drop a comment below and let me know!

I’m reading The Story of Alice: Lewis Carroll and the Secret History of Wonderland. I studied literature in Oxford, including Alice in Wonderland, and enjoy learning more about its history

I’ve been trying to find books to read to hit my August goals! I’m not sure if Lily and the Octopus has been released in the UK yet but it’s been added to my wishlist! You’ll have to let me know what you think of it!
