Worrying Less = A Better You

Have any of you heard about Daily Shine Texts? About a week ago, one of my best friends Molly (hey Molly) told me about it. It’s a site where you can sign up to get texts at a specific time with motivational quotes, ideas and actions to take to make yourself be as positive as you can be and the best version of yourself.

Anyway, today, I received one that really resonated with me. The exact words were:

“TGIF, Christiana! Each year, we spend the equivalent of *2 months* worrying. This weekend, ease up on predicting the future.”

Did anyone else read this and just go, wow? I did. I worry a lot, and I’m not going to deny that. I worry about things that are extremely far fetched, and I worry about things that will most likely not happen. And guess what? NOTHING positive comes from worrying. You know what comes from worrying? A stomach ache, stress and the equivalent of 2 months out of the year. Now, tell me again why we do this to ourselves?

I’m working on worrying less, and I’m starting today. Every single day we get is a gift and we should always greet it with open arms. Instead of waking up worrying about something, I’m going to change my mindset and think about the things I am grateful for. When I start worrying about something, I’m going to remember this Daily Shine text telling me that we spend the equivalent of 2 months worrying. I don’t want to ever waste these precious day that we are given. It’s not going to be something easy to fix and I’m still going to worry, but if I can make that 2 months go down to 1, then at least I’m making some progress.

Happy Friday, everyone.
