• Do Good With Pie

This weekend was the definition of an ideal country weekend, and something you’d see in a Hallmark movie. Yesterday,  my brother competed in a triathlon, and did an incredible job! After the morning fun of cheering him on, we decided to go cherry picking, something I have always wanted to do! We are surrounded by cherry orchards, so it only makes sense. We got our buckets and set out in the orchard searching for the ripest cherries. We picked two full buckets of cherries (a lot more than I thought could fit in there) and decided to bake homemade cherry pie, yet ANOTHER thing I have always wanted to do!…

  • 5 Ways to Balance Your Day

I recently graduated college and began working part time at a marketing agency. I start graduate school in August, and I know my schedule will be very up and down. Night classes, work, projects and whatever else comes my way! Working part time, I have learned heathy and successful ways to balance my schedule that help fill me with positive energy and motivation. 1. Make time for a run or walk Even if I’m exhausted after a long day of work or groggy when I wake up, I make time  for a run or a walk. Some days, I don’t run very far at all. But that’s not the point! Getting active…

  • Goodbye Monday Blues

I never liked how people would start off Monday’s on a negative note. Yes, the weekend just ended and reality strikes yet again. But why should that be bad? I think Monday should have a positive meaning attached to it, which is why I say goodbye to those blues! I start my Monday off with a cup of coffee (lots of coffee) and a mental list of goals and fun things I want to accomplish and do for the week. Below are 3 goals that I have set for myself this week! 1. Drink coffee on the balcony So simple, right? I hardly ever use my balcony in my apartment and it’s…

  • Mustangs and Donuts

Today reminded me of something. It reminded me to take time to relax and enjoy life. It sounds cliche, but it’s so true. On this beautiful day, we decided to go for a ride in the mustang and get donuts in town. A plan so simple, yet so wonderful. We pulled out the ’65 mustang, got our sunglasses and went cruising in the county. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and we were out on a mini adventure. We got our donuts, and they were nothing short of amazing. Our flavors were coconut, fruity pebbles, key lime, oreo and bacon. We ate them as we sat at the marina and…

  • Lessons From Bingo

I have always loved talking and spending time with the elderly. My grandpa and I have always had a special bond and have always enjoyed having conversations about anything and everything. I have learned many lessons from my grandpa and also from volunteering at a nursing home. Every Wednesday, I would go play bingo. At first, the people at the table I sat at wouldn’t speak to me much, maybe a smile here and there. I was a stranger to them, but it was my goal to change that. After a few Wednesdays, they began opening up to me. The people at my bingo table taught me many lessons without…

  • Fourth In Fontana

This last weekend was my first 4th of July in Fontana, Wisconsin! Something about the 4th of July always makes my heart flutter a bit. It’s exciting, romantic and fresh. Sarah (Nic’s sister) and I were talking about how the 4th of July can either be considered the halfway point of summer or just the beginning of summertime adventures. This got me thinking. There are always different ways to look at days and situations. July 4th may mean that summer is halfway over, but it also means there are many adventures to look forward to. It’s a reminder to do what you want to do even if you feel like you have no…
