• 10 Tried and True Running Tips

Hello, everyone and Happy Monday! I hope you all are off to a great week. The first day of fall is this Friday, and I am so excited. Who’s with me?! I’ve talked about running and fitness a number of times on my blog before, like 5 Running Essentials, but today, I wanted to highlight some running tips I have grown to LOVE. Nic and I have started consistently running about 3 times a week now and it’s been great. We love going on runs together and it’s a great activity to do together. Any who, since we’ve been running more consistently, I wanted to share tips we have both…

  • 5 Running Essentials

This 50 degree weather has been giving me major spring fever! I know this isn’t good to think considering it’s STILL February… but hey, a girl can dream right? One of the many things I get excited about when the weather gets warmer is running outside (no surprise there). As I’ve started to run outside again, I’ve realized that there are some running essentials that help make my run the best it can be. These essentials all help me in their individual ways. Jersey Tank – I always wear jersey tanks when I go for a run. I never really like wearing shirts with sleeves when I run, so I always go…

  • Half Marathon Training For Beginners

Hello, my friends! A few people have asked me what my training schedule looked like for my half marathon (especially since it was my first big race). My training schedule was very untraditional but I did have a little routine that helped me prepare for the race. I signed up for my half on June 19 and race day was September 25. So, I knew I had enough time to start training (and I knew once I signed up I was committed). At this point, I had only been running about 1 -2 miles a week. I casually (no pun intended) ran here and there, didn’t stick to a schedule and didn’t…

  • Casually Christiana’s Plan For 2017

I hope you all had a wonderful new year. It’s 2017, wow! I have a lot of ideas in store for 2017 for Casually Christiana, and I wanted to give you all a little sneak peak into what you can expect and look forward to this year. Woo hoo! Wellness & Health One area I plan to focus on this year are more posts on wellness and heath. I think it is such an important topic to talk about because we ALL know what it’s like to feel stressed and overwhelmed. I am planning on talking about more ways to relax and de-stress. Also, I am planning on having a…

  • A Look At 2016

Happy New Year’s Eve! Can you believe 2016 is over? I sure can’t. I feel like it was just yesterday we were welcoming in the new year. Today, Nic and I are celebrating the new year at our friend’s wedding, who also happen to be fellow bloggers of He Coffee She Tea (if you haven’t heard of them, check them out)! We are so excited! As I look back on this year, a lot of things come to my mind. It’s very to sum up a year when so much as happened. However, one thing that sticks out to me about this year is growth. This was BY FAR a year of growth.…

  • Training Your Mind

Training my mind is something I have been working on. I have a tendency to overthink situations and many times, create scenarios in my head that aren’t even true. This leads to negative outcomes, such as worrying and being stressed about situations that I don’t need to be stressed about to begin with. Therefore, it’s critical to train your mind to stop overthinking and start thinking positively. I’m a very positive person. I always look on the bright side of situations, look for the best in people and enjoy the simple things in life. However, I let overthinking get to me sometimes. The good news about that is that it can be…

  • More Than Just A Race

I did it. I completed the Chicago Half Marathon, my first half marathon on September 25th. Words cannot describe how I feel about achieving this MAJOR goal of mine. However, it wasn’t what I had expected, and that’s what made it so important and memorable. This half marathon was more than just a run. When I woke up at 4:00A.M. on Sunday, my stomach was in knots. I was so excited (and nervous) that it was the day I had been waiting and training for. I had hurt my knee a month ago while training, and in the back of my mind, I worried it would begin to throb during the half marathon.…

  • Getting Ready To Race

Happy Friday! Instead of the usual Friday Favorites, I wanted to focus on getting ready for my half marathon THIS SUNDAY. This Sunday? YES. This Sunday! I love that I have been able to share my training and journey with you all. So, this Sunday is race day! As you all know, I have been training for months. A few weeks ago when I ran 11.54 miles, my knees were in terrible pain the next day. I could hardly walk! So, I took a week and half break from running. Then, after I wrote Rainy Day Runs, my knee began to hurt again. I got really worried that something was wrong. So, I took…

  • Rainy Day Runs

It has been rather rainy in Milwaukee lately. Sunny, but also rainy. The rain has been great though, because it helps me study. Something about watching the rain from my window as I’m reading or working on my homework makes it a little easier to focus. Today, my good friend Hannah and I had planned to go on a run together. This was the perfect break from studying. Let me tell you, my time has been consumed with reading. I love reading and school, but you need breaks in between.  This morning, instead of the sunny and blue skies I was intending to wake up to, it was cloudy and…

  • Friday Favorites

Happy (end of the day) Friday, everyone! Today was such a full day and I didn’t have time to write my weekly Friday Favorites blog in the morning. However, that is no excuse! I could not leave you all without my weekly blog. Here are my (late) Friday Favorites! 11.54 Ok, I have to brag because you all know how much I love running. You all also know how my training has been all over the place lately. As you read yesterday, I wanted to run 9 miles to train for my half marathon. Well, today I ended up running 11.54 miles. THAT’S RIGHT! I was so beyond proud of myself because…
