• Fireworks + The Spark Inside Us All

I have aways loved fireworks. I always get so excited for them on the 4th of July and for other fireworks throughout the year. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve always loved the feeling I get watching them. As a kid, fireworks always seemed so magical. My family and I would all sit together on a blanket by the lake, listen to a live band and watch the beautiful fireworks over the bay. I’d always be giddy waiting for the finale, and once it ended, I couldn’t wait to see them again next year. I loved everything about it. Growing up, I’ve always loved fireworks for the same…

  • Cherry Blossoms: A Tradition

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great and relaxing weekend. Mine was great – we saw friends, explored and took photos of cherry blossoms in the county, had dinner with our wonderful neighbors (hi Ann and Mike!) and my parents and Nic and I went out to our favorite coffee shop on Sunday morning. If you’re curious, Cafe Miel’s are my current favorite drink. 🙂 It was a much needed weekend filled with fun and R&R, and we finally caught up on some sleep. It has become a tradition that every year we go to a cherry orchard and take photos of the cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms leave as quickly as…

  • Looking Up

It is freezing outside and the roads are covered in ice, but that didn’t stop me from venturing outside. I love the outdoors, so I do my best to go outside, even if the air hurts my face. Today, I went for a walk and it was so beautiful and relaxing. The weather conditions were not ideal, but I wanted to go for a walk regardless. As I began my walk, I looked at the frosted trees, the icy road and the gentle snowflakes that were falling from the sky. I kept walking and got to the frozen lake, where the air was really hurting my face now (but I pretended it didn’t bother…

  • Snowy Days And Simplicity

We have gotten a lot of snow these last few days, and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t absolutely beautiful. Driving is terrible, it’s cold, it’s windy and the air makes my ears numb, but I still love it. The freshly fallen snow makes me feel like a kid again. Today, Nic and I bundled up in our coats and ventured outside! We took our camera, walked on the path near the (chilly) lake and took photos. I have to say, I love that Nic and I always enjoy the little things, like snowy days. We make the most out of our days and that is just one of…

  • Snowy Sunday

Today, we had our first snowfall of December! I know, I know, it’s a pain to drive in and sometimes walk in. However, I have always loved the first snowfall. It’s fresh, new and makes me feel like a kid again. There has always been something special about those snowflakes falling from the sky. On this snowy Sunday, Nic and I took full advantage of enjoying the snow as well as staying cozy in the warmth of our home. We went outside, smiled as we watched the snowflakes from the sky and made the most of a simple moment. Then, we came inside and watched Christmas movies with hot chocolate. I know, cozy…

  • Cozy Sunday

Lazy Sunday. Cozy Sunday. They’re both right. Sundays are the perfect day to wind down, think about the weekend you had and look forward to the week ahead. That’s exactly what I’m doing today. This last weekend was perfect. What was so great about it was that it was so simple. Simplicity is definitely underrated. This weekend was spent enjoying the outdoors, walking in the park, sitting on a dock overlooking the lake, going for a hike in the woods, watching Hallmark Christmas movies (of course), making apple crisp and spending time with people I love. We also started to slowly decorate for Christmas (it’s never too early in my book). It was a…

  • Being The Bigger Person

At least once in our lives, we have heard someone tell us to just be the bigger person in a situation. I’ve even said it to people, too. It’s a common quote that holds much validity. However, there is a lot more involved in the words than just a simple quote. Being the bigger person requires one to look past an episode of hurt. Being hurt isn’t easy, and looking past it isn’t any easier. However, we do it because life is too short to hold onto anger. What I have learned from this saying is that there is a good side to it and a bad side. The good side? You really…

  • Rainy Day Runs

It has been rather rainy in Milwaukee lately. Sunny, but also rainy. The rain has been great though, because it helps me study. Something about watching the rain from my window as I’m reading or working on my homework makes it a little easier to focus. Today, my good friend Hannah and I had planned to go on a run together. This was the perfect break from studying. Let me tell you, my time has been consumed with reading. I love reading and school, but you need breaks in between.  This morning, instead of the sunny and blue skies I was intending to wake up to, it was cloudy and…

  • Tomorrow Is Today

Today is when you’d say tomorrow. This is a thought that has recently come to mind. Do you ever find yourself saying you’ll do something tomorrow and end up not doing it at all because time slips away? I know it’s not possible to do everything in a day, but it’s important to remember there are only so many tomorrows. As silly (and simple) as it sounds, I’ve been wanting to sit out on our balcony to relax and write and I kept telling myself I’d do it tomorrow. Finally, today it hit me that’s it’s tomorrow. So, I grabbed some coffee, a blanket, my computer and wrote outside. It was a simple action that…
